My Buddy and Me

Though my cough hasn’t gone away (and I doubt it will for some time), I’m starting to feel better after being leveled by my post-BlogHer cold so I decided today is the day to start shredding again. (I last shredded last week so it’s not like it’s been a long time.)

What a perfect day to start, as Kristen and Bill have announced our Shredhead buddies! I’d like to introduce you to Karianna, who blogs over at The Karianna Spectrum. She and I haven’t had the chance to chat much about our plans for holding each other accountable yet, but we introduced ourselves via Twitter today and I’m sure we’re going to hit it off just great.

One way I can tell: apparently we were at all the same activities/parties at BlogHer. (I guess it says a lot about what BlogHer is like given that we were in the same place no fewer than seven times and yet never met.)

I’m looking forward to shredding and training for a 10K (oh, yeah, I need to find a race) with Karianna keeping my a** in check along the way.

  1. Consider me impressed. I’m still battling my BlogHer cold and I’m nowhere near ready to consider exercising again!
I’ll be rooting for you and Kari. Can’t imagine two people who deserve it more!

  2. I need to check out this “shred thing”. I hear all about it and have no clue what the hell it is!

I believe you can do anything you put you mind to. How do I know this? You ran the BlogHer 5k after a really long day of travel and and even longer night of cocktails!

*high five* *smack on the a__*

Woooo! We’re going to be great buds. Thank you for the shout-out! I know what you mean about the “all the same activities” at BlogHer – I heard your name ALL THE TIME and all over Twitter amongst my tweeples, and yet somehow we didn’t officially meet. (Maybe I stepped on your toe en route to swag? Naw, not me!)

    As for my fitness goals:

I’m doing my second (if you count the BlogHer one as my first!) 5K in September at Disneyland. I *might* do a local 10K in December (because my husband does all the organizing for it, so I really should do it!) and then a half-marathon in March (unless I chicken-out and do the 5K race during the same weekend at Disneyworld.)

I did the Shred from mid-March to mid-April, then did a little Bob yoga in May, then started the running intervals in June. Now I run some days and repeat Shred levels on other days. (I use Bob yoga’s warm up and cool down on occasion, too post-run.) And rest on other days. I’m trying to find a balance between going “all out so that I completely become a grouch” versus taking TOO MUCH time off!

Yay! (And to anyone who wants to join the Shredheads, please do… I totally thought I couldn’t do it, but I did all 30 days, and can’t believe I’m actually running an “official” 5K in a month!)

  4. Go you! Kick some shredded ass!

  5. Good for you! I need to get back on the program. Any program. *sigh*
